ANALOG HORROR

You might be wondering why isn't this included in the films category. And that is because, it's not a movie genre. It's an internet subgenre. Though it did draw inspiration from found footage films like the Blair Witch Project, or footage horror like the Paranormal Activity

Analog horror is an internet sub-genre that started in the 2010s, as the name states, this genre emulates analog media (television broadcast, VHS and stuff), and common themes that come along with it are hijacking broadcast transmissions, uncanny valley, ominous messages, static glitches, etc. Check out this fandom wiki for more explanation cause I don't think my explanation do this justice lmao

Of all the horror genres that exist out there, Analog horror is definitely my top favorite. Why? This is the only horror genre that gives me genuine fear. Unlike the generic horror that feeds you into anticipation of jumpscares, this genre normally don't have any jumpscares, but it hits you psychologically (for me atleast). Psychological horror is 10x scarier for me than any other horror subgenres

I kid you not, even if I say that I love Analog Horror, it's sometimes hard for me for finish the whole series because of how terrifying the videos makes me feel haha. Like seriously, sometimes I had to watch it along with Matpat just to not feel alone watching it lmao. (I miss Matpat huhu)

HERE ARE MY FAVORITE ANALOG HORROR SERIES

Originally, I wanted to add a bit of synopsis of what the series is about, but then I remembered I started watching these series with zero context of what its about. So you know what? I'll be doing the same instead. Haha! Below I'll just link the channel and a vague description for its theme.

I watched analog series with zero knowledge of what's it gonna be about so if you're new to analog horror, I'm giving you the same experience I had haha! Enjoy!

Local 58

Theme: Television Boradcast, Emergency Alert System, TV Hijacking, Ominous Broadcast, Found Footage

This is one of the earliest analog horror that started. This series popularized the genre. This is also the first analog I've seen.

Of all the series I've mentioned here, Channel 10 Manila is by far the most scariest one for me. Maybe because this is a Filipino analog horror so the analog media is more localized, meaning there's more sense of familiarity for me with the material? Like, you know, it feels closer to home? haha! Anyway, until today, I still can't watch all their videos. I wish I could watch it along with MatPat lol.

Vita Carnis

Theme: Documentary Horror, Biology, Meat

Mandela Catalogue

Theme: Religious Horror, Found Footage, doppelgängers

This is the most popular series in the genre. Understandable, Alex Kister (the creator) is GOATED with the visuals. If the attached image is already making you feel uncomfortable, that's just the tip of the iceburg, babes :)

I personally wasn't much into this. I dunno, I don't have the attention span for animatronics for some reason, it bores me quickly. ANYWAY, if' you love FNAF, this analog horror series might be your cup of tea!

The Monument Mythos

I haven't seen this yet, but I don't want to search more details about this for now cause I want to see it without any idea what's it about haha. Upon browsing through the playlist, I'm guessing the theme involves, history, archaeology and American monuments? It seems pretty interesting, I'll be checking this out soon. I'll update this page once I've finished checking this out.
